One goal of the Plank Center is to build a research-based foundation of knowledge regarding the values, qualities and dimensions of excellent leadership in public relations. When the Center was founded in 2005, research was already being conducted.
The graphic below, highlighting 10 Patterns of Success in Public Relations, is part of a larger research paper project for which Bill Heyman, CEO of Heyman Associates, and Dr. Bruce Berger, research director for the Plank Center, received the ICA Top Paper Award in 2005. In 2007, the research, written as an academic article, was published in the International Journal of Strategic Communication. This was the first of four research projects that have been generously supported by Heyman Associates. The other were in 2008, 2012-13, and 2015.
