
Joe Cohen
Joe Cohen serves as chief marketing and communications officer at AXIS (NYSE: AXS), a global provider of specialty insurance and reinsurance with a presence that spans North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia-Pacific and Bermuda.
Joe leads the company’s global in-house marketing and communications team. He is responsible for guiding corporate and brand reputation, marketing and advertising, digital marketing, financial communications, corporate philanthropy, event marketing, public relations and internal/change management communications. In 2016, he joined AXIS as the company’s chief communications officer, where he led global external and internal communications.
Prior to joining AXIS, Joe served for two years as senior vice president of communications for KIND Healthy Snacks (now part of MARS). Previously, he spent 15 years at MikeWorldWide (then part of Interpublic Group), where he rose to become a senior leader in the agency’s brand marketing and corporate communications practices. He began his career as a professional radio jock at Power 102 in Syracuse, N.Y.
Throughout his career, Joe has dedicated time to supporting the communications and marketing professions, serving as current treasurer/secretary and trustee of the Page Society; trustee of the Institute for Public Relations (IPR); and member of the CMO Growth Council for the Association of National Advertisers (ANA). He is a past national chair of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA); past president of the PRSA Foundation; and a founding board member of the Newhouse 44 supporting the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, where he is an alum.
Joe is a lifelong New Jersey resident, where he lives with his wife, Jaime Schwartz Cohen, and their two boys.
