The Plank Center Selects Educators to Represent its Ninth Fellowship for Educators Class

In an effort to facilitate relationships between public relations educators and professionals, The Plank Center for Leadership in Public Relations designed the Fellowship for Educators Program, which has placed 67 educators with communication teams at world-class agencies and corporations.

Two educators have been selected to represent the program’s ninth class:

  • Ted Gournelos, Rollins College, hosted by DEVENEY (New Orleans)
  • Riva Brown, University of Central Arkansas, hosted by General Motors (Detroit)

Developed specifically to create an on-going dialog between the classroom and boardroom, the program consists of an intensive, two-week summer fellowship, which allows the fellows to enhance their professional development, leadership growth and networking skills.

“Educators are immersed in the communications team, conducting research projects, training sessions and presentations, and assisting with company projects. In return, the host organizations agree to spend up to two days on the educator’s college or university campus with faculty, administrators and students to share industry knowledge, trends and valuable insight,” said Dr. Karla Gower, director of The Plank Center.
