Lynne M. Sallot, Ph.D., APR, Fellow PRSA, Josiah Meigs Distinguished Teaching Professor of Public Relations, joined the faculty of the Grady College at the University of Georgia in 1993. She began her teaching career as an adjunct professor at the University of Miami (1987-1990).

She received the 2008 Pathfinder Award from the Institute for Public Relations “for advancing a program of scholarship research that has made a significant contribution to the body of knowledge and practice of public relations,” and has authored or co-authored 70 journal articles, book chapters and conference papers.

She received the Public Relations Society of America’s Outstanding Educator Award in 2007, and she was named Outstanding Faculty Advisor by the Public Relations Student Society of America in 1997, the same year she was inducted into PRSA’s College of Fellows. She edited the 2nd and 3rd editions of Learning to Teach: What You Need to Know to Develop a Successful Career as a Public Relations Educator, published by PRSA’s Educators Academy.  

Sallot was inducted into the Georgia PRSA Chapter’s Order of the Phoenix, its highest individual honor, and the chapter’s Hall of Fame in 2002. She earned her APR from PRSA in 1987.

She received the Roland Page Graduate Teaching Award by student members of the Graduate Caucus of the Grady College, UGA, to recognize high standards of teaching and concern for students, in 2001, and she received UGA’s Richard B. Russell Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching award in 1998.

A member of UGA’s Teaching Academy since 2001, she has been recognized by UGA’s Career Center for “contributions to the career development of UGA students” for 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2011, and 2013, and received Honorable Mention for UGA’s 2001-2002 Outstanding Academic Advisor/Mentor Award (Faculty Category) as the Grady College nominee.

She practiced public relations in Florida for 15 years, the last five heading her own PR firm, serving travel and tourism and nonprofit clients. Before that, she worked as a journalist for newspapers and magazines in Florida, Ohio and Canada.

She earned a Ph.D. from the University of Florida in 1993; M.A. from the University of Miami in 1990; and B.A. from Kent State University in 1970.
