Joe Evangelisti, 2016 Corporate Honoree

Joe Evangelisti is head of Worldwide Corporate Communications and Media Relations for J.P. Morgan Chase, the $2 trillion global financial services company. In this role, he serves as chief communications officer, lead spokesman, and head internal communications for the firm.

Evangelisti joined J.P. Morgan in 1986 as a member of J.P. Morgan’s internal communications team. Two years later, he joined the company’s media relations unit as a junior press officer, and in 1992 he relocated to London, where he was head of media relations in the U.K., later adding corporate communications for the U.K., continental Europe, Middle East and Africa.

In 1996, he returned to the U.S. and was appointed head of global media relations for J.P. Morgan. In 2000, when Chase bought J.P. Morgan, Evangelisti became head of global media relations for the combined firm. And in 2004, when Bank One and JPMorgan Chase merged, he became head of global media relations for the new firm.

In early 2006, he took on the chief communications role, and in 2012 he also assumed responsibility for the company’s vast art and archives collection.

Evangelisti is a senior champion for the firm’s PRIDE employee networking group and active with the company’s LGBT community. Outside the firm, he serves on the board of the Knight-Bagehot Fellowship and is a member of the PR Seminar.

Evangelisti received a BA in 1985 from the University of Virginia, where he majored in English and was an editor of a university newspaper.
