David Albritton, 2021 Jack Koten Corporate Honoree

David Albritton is a renowned business leader, speaker, and communications expert with more than three decades of leadership experience across the government and corporate sectors. He is the founder and chief executive of the coaching and business advisory firm, Nineteen88 Strategies, LLC, which specializes in a wide range of management services, executive coaching and leadership development for corporations, nonprofits, associations, small businesses and highly motivated individuals and teams. Over the course of his career, he has brought his deep knowledge, leadership, teamwork, and wisdom to the organizations he’s worked with, while developing a strong reputation as an inspirational mentor, trainer and coach that has successfully assisted hundreds of individuals in the successful pursuit of their career objectives.

He spent 10 years as an officer in the U.S. Navy before transitioning into a variety of corporate senior leadership roles across the technology, automotive, aerospace & defense, retail, and nonprofit sectors over the next 20+ years.

Albritton holds the distinction as one of very few corporate public relations executives to transition into the role of chief executive and general manager of a business division at a large global company. Albritton was honored to serve his company and the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces as President of General Motors Defense, LLC, the GM division which provides advanced automotive products and services to the global aerospace, defense and security markets.

As a senior communications executive, his career highlights also include service as the Vice President & Chief Communications Officer of Exelis Inc., an aerospace, defense and security company that spun off from ITT Corporation. He has also served as the Vice President, Communications for Worldwide Public Sector & Vertical Industries at Amazon Web Services, the leading global cloud computing provider, as well as Vice President, Communications at United Way of America, one of the largest nonprofits in America that focuses on community impact. He was previously the Executive Director, Product Development & International Communications at General Motors, where he was responsible for internal and external communications for all of GM’s global regions, including China, South America, Asia Pacific, Australia, Canada, and Mexico. He has also held senior communications positions with ITT Corporation, Raytheon Company, Hewlett-Packard Company, Compaq Computer Corporation and Sears, Roebuck and Co.

A gifted speaker and organizational spokesperson, Albritton has presented at global business and industry events and has been interviewed many times in print, broadcast, and online media as a subject matter expert on a variety of topics.

As an executive coach and consultant, Albritton offers executives and business leaders at all levels his decades of knowledge, mentorship, and guidance to develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to meet their objectives on their terms.

He is a 1988 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. In 1993, he also earned an M.S. in Management from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, Calif. He has also completed executive education courses at Harvard University, Stanford University, and the Wharton School of Business.

During his Navy career, Albritton served aboard USS PORTLAND (LSD 37), which participated in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm in 1990-91. He also served as a Navy Public Affairs Officer in the Pentagon and London, England before being discharged in 1998 at the rank of Lieutenant Commander (O-4).

Albritton is married with three children and three grandchildren. He truly enjoys RV camping with his family, bass fishing, mentoring young professionals and meeting new people over many years during his travel to more than 50 countries.
