Working as an instructor and faculty advisor at the University of South Carolina, Ranta teaches within the areas of journalism and mass communications. He completed his Educator Fellowship with ESPN in 2014.
Ranta began his professional career in the navy before transitioning into agency work then academia. His research interests are public relations metrics, emerging technologies and entrepreneurship, alternative energy/transportation, restaurant and hospitality, public affairs (international and domestic policies and national defense), integrated marketing communications, media and entertainment (reality television) and military history and public affairs.
